What about new guidelines?

New breast cancer screening guidelines recommended by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, part of the Department of Health & Human Services, have left many women concerned and confused about whether or not they should have an annual mammogram. The Methodist Breast Center continues to recommend annual mammograms beginning at age 40.

The American Cancer Society recommends women get screened for breast cancer every year, starting at age 40, and that women with increased risk consider screening at age 30.
