Keeping the Mind at Work is the central goal of Methodist’s Eddy Scurlock Stroke Center. This Joint Commission-certified center is a leader in all areas of stroke research, including diagnosis, innovative treatments, prevention, rehabilitation, and recovery.
Much has been learned about the causes and prevention of stroke, and those who arrive in the emergency room with a stroke are no longer viewed as untreatable. In fact, a vital component of the Center is a coordinated, multi-disciplinary rapid response system for the treating of stroke victims.
Ready to respond 24 hours a day, the Center is composed of a highly professional, multi-disciplinary team of experts, including neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists, cardiologists, neuropsychologists, emergency medicine, rehabilitative specialists, and a highly dedicated nursing staff specializing in stroke. The team provides treatment during a critical acute state of stroke -- the first few hours after the onset of symptoms -- at The Methodist Hospital, as well as patient education and preventive and post-stroke therapies in the Eddy Scurlock Stroke Center Outpatient Clinic.
